2021 Roussanne
Our Roussanne is a textural, yet clean, white wine that this is great with food.
Bright straw to pale yellow. Lots of spiced pear and yellow peach to begin, with almond and lemon zest chiming in. The palette is medium to full, with generous fruit weight and texture, all underpinned by guiding acidity and a lingering finish.
Roussanne is not that well known in Australia, but as wine writer Max Allen says "One of the most exciting grapes in Australia right now is Roussanne. If you like to drink white wines with a rich, satisfying texture, this is a variety you must try." We agree.
Roussanne done well is such a reward, and this is one. Heady aromas of quince blossom, fennel, fresh ginger and beeswax. The palate is glorious – slinky phenolics add shape and texture, plus the creamed honey lees. There’s complexity yet a vitality too. Delicious drinking.
